Joining this practice means that you will get to work with some of the UK's most interesting clients - from individuals, family offices and businesses, through to educational institutions, ecclesiastical bodies, local and central government and charities.

With 301 employees and 69 partners, the size of this practice means you will quickly get to know people and get straight to the heart of the success, which is building lasting relationships with clients and across teams.

The Firm

Commercial Disputes sits within the wider Litigation and Dispute Resolution (LDR) department, which comprises three partners, five senior solicitors, eight solicitors, seven paralegals, two trainee solicitors and two PAs. The Commercial Disputes team currently comprises one partner, three solicitors, one trainee solicitor and a PA. The team also shares support services with the wider LDR team.

The practice aims to provide expert advice, leveraging the firm's deep-rooted sector expertise, and a high-quality service, whilst maintaining a friendly and supportive environment for its clients. The team takes a commercial, results-oriented and pragmatic approach, seeking to resolve disputes out of court wherever possible.

Many of the cases that they work on involve collaborating with colleagues in other departments in the firm - for example, Commercial and Corporate, Employment, Public Sector Enterprise and Charities, Education, Real Estate and Private Client.

The firm works flexibly, utilising part home-based / part office-based working. They value and are engaged in a wide range of networking and business development activities and encourage this at all levels.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a mid-level or senior solicitor to join the Commercial Disputes team on a 12-month fixed-term contract from September 2023.

The successful candidate will report to the head of the team and will work both independently on their own caseload and with partner-led teams in the LDR department and wider firm. They will also play a role in supervising more junior fee earners within the team and will be involved in all aspects of litigation, ADR and risk advisory work.

This is an opportune time to join the team, which is expanding due to an influx of high-quality work. The successful candidate will be encouraged to play a role in the team's business development activities and will have the opportunity to market to clients in, and develop expertise in, business sectors that they find of particular interest.
