This is an excellent chance to join a highly regarded Tax team within a well-established and fast-growing London practice, supporting a senior Partner in a busy and high-performing environment.

This role sits directly within the Tax department, providing dedicated support to a highly experienced Tax Partner and his wider team during a period absence cover. This is a temporary position with an initial duration of 6-12 months (TBC), offering immediate responsibility and exposure to high-quality work from day one. While no guarantee, there is always the chance that this could be extended further, or for the role to be made permanent.

The firm itself has an excellent reputation across multiple practice areas, with particular strengths in corporate, commercial, real estate, private wealth, and tax. It is recognised for delivering consistently high-quality legal advice to an impressive client base, while maintaining a genuinely supportive and collegiate culture.

Despite its strong standing in the market, the environment remains approachable and down-to-earth, with a clear emphasis on professionalism, teamwork, and long-term development.

Staff benefit from working closely with senior lawyers and gaining exposure to complex, high-value matters in a fast-paced but genuinely supportive setting where the culture is friendly, warm and professional.

The Role

This is a senior-level Legal PA / Secretary position within the Tax team, requiring prior law firm experience supporting Partners or senior fee earners at a high level.

You will be a key part of the team's day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth running of the Partner's practice and providing high-quality administrative and organisational support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing complex diaries and inboxes, prioritising effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Preparing, formatting, and editing legal documents and correspondence
  • Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting client communication and ensuring a high standard of client service
  • Assisting with billing, expenses and basic financial administration
  • Maintaining accurate records, databases, and file management systems
  • Coordinating meetings, travel, and ensuring all meeting materials are prepared
  • Providing general administrative support to the Tax team as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal PA within a law firm (essential)
  • Strong experience supporting Partners or senior fee earners (essential)
  • Prior exposure working within a Tax team is highly desirable, but is not essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do approach
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy, client-focused environment
  • Immediately available or on a short notice period (up to 1 month)

Additional Information

  • Temporary role (6-12 months, TBC)
  • Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
  • Based in the City of London
  • Full-time office attendance required for the first 6 months; 1-day per week to work from home thereafter

This is a high-priority requirement for the firm with immediate interviews taking place.

This is a rare opportunity to join a highly respected City law firm within a specialist Tax team, offering genuine partner-level exposure, varied work, and the chance to operate at a senior level from day one in a fast-paced professional environment.
