The Team

The Branding team is highly regarded for advising on the protection, promotion, exploitation and monetisation of brands and content across a broad range of industries.

Led by an experienced partner, the team consists of specialist lawyers, trade mark professionals and support staff who work closely together in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The practice continues to grow, having expanded significantly over the past year in response to increasing client demand.

The team advises an impressive client base ranging from household names and established international brands through to emerging businesses, creators, entrepreneurs and rights holders. Their work spans trade marks, designs, copyright, advertising, brand protection, enforcement and wider intellectual property strategy.

Lawyers within the team enjoy a high level of client exposure and responsibility, working directly alongside senior lawyers while benefiting from excellent support, training and long-term progression opportunities.

The Role

This is an opportunity for a Trade Mark Attorney or IP Solicitor to join a growing Branding team, supporting the firm's expanding UK and European trade mark offering.
Working closely with the partner and wider team, you will advise clients on all aspects of brand protection, portfolio management and intellectual property strategy, handling a broad mix of advisory, prosecution and enforcement work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on trade mark and design availability, registration and protection strategies
  • Conducting clearance searches and assessing potential conflicts and risks
  • Managing UK, EU and international trade mark and design filing programmes
  • Protecting and developing client intellectual property portfolios
  • Advising on copyright and related intellectual property rights
  • Supporting brand enforcement, anti-counterfeiting and online protection strategies
  • Drafting and reviewing trade mark assignments, licences and related agreements
  • Assisting with contentious matters alongside specialist dispute resolution lawyers
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships across a diverse client base
  • Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of the practice
  • Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) and/or UK Qualified Trade Mark Attorney
  • Between 0 - 5 years' post-qualification experience
  • Strong experience gained within a recognised trade mark or intellectual property practice
  • Extensive experience advising on UK trade mark prosecution and portfolio management matters
  • Experience handling UK and European trade mark filings
  • Strong understanding of copyright, brand protection and wider intellectual property issues
  • Experience advising on trade mark enforcement and online brand protection matters would be advantageous
  • Excellent technical and commercial judgement
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • An interest in business development and contributing to the continued growth of the practice
