Banking Associate/Solicitor (2 - 4 PQE) | City of London | Top 100 Law Firm

This Top 100 UK law firm is looking for a banking solicitor with 2-4 years PQE to join a highly regarded banking & finance team in a role where you will work on high?quality matters, build relationships with the firms highly regarded clients and develop your career in a fast?paced and supportive City environment.

The Firm

This is a Top 100 and Chambers ranked firm where many of the teams are ranked highly for their specialties, including construction. The firm is home to many ranked and recognised lawyers at the top of their respective fields.

The Team:

The Banking team advises on a wide range of financing transactions for both lenders and borrowers. Recently acting on a multi-million-pound financing for a major city office block and household named retailer. Alongside advising domestic and European lenders on liquidity needs.

Transactions are weighted towards real estate finance but there is a diverse range of work supporting the firms wider departments, in particular their corporate and private client teams. With a diverse clients base, ranging from banks and financial institutions, private equity investors, corporate borrowers, and private individuals and entrepreneurs, to name a few.

Led by two former Magic-Circle partners, they are looking to expand the team due to demand. Because of the structure of the team, you would have direct partner contact, opportunities to have early responsibility and make an impact within this thriving team.

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Banking Associate (2-4 PQE) to join a thriving practice dealing with a variety of high-level work, where you will have real opportunities to develop your expertise and professional development.

Joining the team, an Associate can expect a busy but varied workload, working on a range of finance transactions, drafting bespoke documents and agreements, being a key client contact for updates and advice, and project-managing deals from the banking side.

With the firm's ambitious growth plans, this role offers excellent prospects for progression. You will gain exposure to complex, high-quality work while developing your profile and taking on increasing responsibility for business development as your career advances. Contributing both to your own career success and to the continued growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering clear and high-level legal advice on a range of banking matters;
  • Acting as the day-to-day contact for advising clients on ongoing or new matters; and
  • Developing the practice by promoting the firm and its work, both to existing and potential clients.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, ideally 2-4 PQE;
  • Experience working in a leading banking practice, with demonstrable exposure to finance transactions, ideally with experience drafting bespoke financing agreements for banks/other financial institutions and reviewing finance documents when acting on the borrower side;
  • A clear and developed understanding of banking and finance law and its commercial application;
  • Strong client relationship and business-development skills;
  • Strong academic history and ability to "think outside the box" and analyse; and
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity.
