A strong opportunity to join a well-established private client practice with a widely respected tax and trusts team at the heart of its lifetime planning, estates and wealth protection offering. The team is known for combining technical strength with clear, practical advice that helps clients manage complex tax obligations with confidence.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work within a specialist tax and trusts group that supports a range of individuals, families, business owners and vulnerable clients. The work is broad, detailed and high-quality, offering genuine day-to-day variety.
- Advising on income tax matters including self-assessment returns, repayment claims, rental income and tax on investments
- Preparing and reviewing Capital Gains Tax computations and advising on reliefs, allowances and planning points (including property disposals and 60-day reporting)
- Handling tax compliance for deceased estates: returns to date of death, tax during administration, CGT on estate disposals and IHT calculations
- Managing ongoing trust compliance, including annual accounts, tax returns and advising on the treatment of different trust types
- Preparing legal documents connected to trustee appointments, distributions, advances and trust wind-ups
- Leading the preparation and submission of Trust Registration Service declarations, FATCA/CRS returns and other regulatory requirements
- Supporting trustees, deputies and attorneys with practical guidance on tax affairs for clients who lack capacity
- Hosting annual trustee meetings with IFAs and trustees to review investments and ensure joined-up decision-making
- Working closely with colleagues across probate, estate planning, family, corporate and property to deliver fully integrated solutions
About You
You'll bring a strong foundation in tax and trust administration along with confidence working directly with clients, trustees and professional advisers.
- 2+ PQE in private client, tax, trusts or a closely related area (more senior applicants also welcomed)
- Solid understanding of personal tax, CGT and inheritance tax principles
- Experience preparing trust accounts and trust tax returns
- Comfortable explaining complex tax and compliance points in clear, accessible terms
- Confident managing relationships with trustees, beneficiaries and intermediaries
- STEP qualification or interest in pursuing this is advantageous
- A collaborative, steady approach and willingness to support junior colleagues as the team grows
What's on Offer
You'll join a highly regarded private wealth department with a reputation for clear communication, strong technical capability and long-standing client relationships.
You'll benefit from:
- Exposure to varied, high-calibre work: multi-issue tax matters, complex trust structures, business and agricultural relief planning, cross-border estates and vulnerable client tax issues
- An integrated platform that connects tax and trusts with estate planning, wills, probate, Court of Protection, contentious trusts and corporate structuring
- Strong support for developing specialist niches, whether that's trust compliance, agricultural relief, business owners, vulnerable clients or multi-jurisdictional estates
- Regular collaboration with experienced tax practitioners and STEP-qualified colleagues, offering significant learning and mentoring opportunities
- A culture that values clarity, professionalism and client care, with consistently positive feedback on communication and support throughout complex processes
- Hybrid working with meaningful in-office collaboration to maintain the team's close, supportive working style
