Senior Associate | Varied Caseload | Clear Progression Route | High-Profile City Work
If you're an Employment lawyer looking to move into a more specialist and high-level practice, this is an opportunity to join a firm with a genuinely clear and transparent long-term progression structure. Whether your ambitions are towards Directorship, Partnership or becoming a recognised senior specialist within your field, the firm has created a career pathway designed to reward contribution, capability and long-term potential.

You will advise senior executives, partnerships, businesses and individuals on a broad mix of strategic advisory and contentious issues, often where the commercial, reputational and personal stakes are significant. This is a role that offers high-quality work, close client relationships and a clear long-term progression structure within a specialist City firm.

The Firm
This is a highly regarded specialist employment and partnership law firm based in the City of London, recognised by both Chambers UK and Legal 500 for its expertise in employment and partnership matters.

The firm advises employers, employees, directors, shareholders and partners across a range of complex and high-value matters. Its work regularly involves senior-level employment issues, team moves, whistleblowing concerns, discrimination matters, partnership disputes and strategic advisory work for firms and individuals operating within highly competitive sectors.

A significant proportion of the client base sits within financial and professional services, meaning the work is often commercially sensitive, fast-moving and high profile.

Because the firm acts for both organisations and individuals, lawyers gain exposure to a broader strategic perspective than is often available within more traditional employment teams. The structure is lean and collaborative, giving lawyers direct involvement with clients and meaningful responsibility from an early stage.

The Role
You will advise on a broad range of employment and partnership matters, working closely with sophisticated clients on both advisory and contentious issues.

The role will involve supporting clients through sensitive workplace and partnership matters, negotiating exits and settlements, advising on team moves and restrictive covenants, handling disputes where required, and providing strategic day-to-day advice to businesses, partnerships and senior individuals.

You will work directly with clients and senior lawyers on complex matters, with the opportunity to take increasing ownership as your profile develops. The nature of the work means you will be closely involved in both the legal and commercial strategy behind matters, rather than operating purely as a technical resource.

The firm also places a strong emphasis on long-term career progression and has created a clearly defined structure beyond Senior Associate level. The pathway includes Director and Partnership routes, recognising different career ambitions while providing talented lawyers with genuine opportunities to progress based on merit, contribution and long-term potential.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build a recognised profile within a specialist City practice while working on high-calibre matters in a collaborative environment.

The Candidate

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 5+ years' PQE
  • Experience gained within a quality Employment team
  • Strong background advising on a mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Experience working with senior executives, partnerships, financial services or professional services clients would be advantageous
  • Strong negotiation, communication and client management skills
  • Commercially minded and able to provide pragmatic, strategic advice

What's On Offer

  • High-quality and high-profile employment and partnership work
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Direct client exposure and meaningful responsibility
  • Clear and transparent long-term progression structure
  • Opportunity to work closely with leading specialists within the field
  • Hybrid working flexibility
  • A collaborative and supportive environment with genuine career development opportunities

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Employment lawyer looking to join a specialist City firm where the quality of work, level of exposure and long-term progression are all standout features.
