Restructuring & Insolvency Solicitor | 1+ PQE | Southampton
A Tier 1-ranked restructuring and insolvency team is recruiting in Southampton, and the opportunity matters for anyone looking to build deep expertise in a practice that handles complex, high-quality insolvency work.
Over the next few years, someone joining now will go from supporting insolvency appointments and procedural applications to running complex restructurings, defending antecedent transaction claims and becoming a recognised insolvency specialist in the region.
The Role
- Advise insolvency office holders on appointments, asset realisations and procedural court applications
- Handle business and asset sales, debt restructuring (including restructuring plans, CVAs and stakeholder negotiations), and contingency planning for distressed businesses
- Pursue and defend insolvency-related claims, including antecedent transactions and injunctive relief
- Advise lenders on security reviews and enforcement, and directors on their legal duties in distress scenarios
- Work on Section 110 demergers, MVLs, corporate group simplification and advising creditors of insolvent businesses
- Gain exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work across corporate and personal insolvency
- Early responsibility, partner-led supervision and clear progression pathways
The Work
The caseload is varied and sophisticated: insolvency appointments, strategic planning post-appointment, solvent liquidations, group reorganisations, recovery strategy for creditors, and advice to directors on duties in distress.
At 1+ PQE, the expectation is enthusiasm, proactive case management and strong technical skills. As the practice continues to grow following recent partner investment, early-stage responsibility becomes leading on complex restructurings, managing client relationships and contributing to the team's strategic direction.
The Platform
The team is recognised in Legal 500 and Chambers for corporate insolvency and restructuring, with strong regional presence and High Court insolvency work.
The culture is collaborative and supportive, with structured development, mentoring and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Why This Makes Sense
Restructuring and insolvency expertise is portable and valuable. Building specialism now, within a Tier 1 team with recent partner investment, High Court work and a broad mix of advisory, transactional and contentious matters, creates a skill set that translates well later down the line.
The team is in growth mode, which means more responsibility, visibility and opportunity to shape the practice as it expands.
