Residential Property Lawyer | Canterbury (Thanet Focus) | Flexible PQE

This isn't backfill. It's a growth role created following a major acquisition that's expanded the residential property team to around 20 people across the firm. Now they want someone with local connections and ambition to develop their presence in Thanet.

This award-winning firm has over 100 years of heritage, deep South East roots, and a solid foundation of generational clients. The residential property practice is a genuine powerhouse, one of the first in the country to achieve Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation, led by a Legal 500 'Recommended Lawyer', and backed by a national group with ambitious growth plans.

You'll work closely with an experienced associate in Canterbury, but this is your opportunity to generate work, build relationships with agents, and grow a practice area that's genuinely valued and properly resourced.

The Role

This is for someone who can build, not just service:

  • Generate and manage your own caseload from inception to completion
  • Develop strong relationships with local estate agents and referrers in the Thanet area
  • Handle residential conveyancing independently: sales, purchases, re-mortgages, transfers of equity
  • Experience in plot sales, development work, and new builds advantageous
  • Work collaboratively with a 20-strong residential property team while maintaining autonomy

The team is tech-forward, efficient, and focused on delivering quality client service with the latest conveyancing technology.

About You

  • Qualified Residential Property Lawyer (any route: solicitor, legal executive, licensed conveyancer)
  • Flexible on seniority, but you must have local connections and the ability to develop work
  • Strong following or established links with estate agents preferred
  • Technically competent handling residential conveyancing with minimal supervision
  • Confident prioritising workload and meeting/exceeding targets

Why This Works

The culture is genuinely collaborative and supportive, with:

  • Competitive salary and discretionary bonus scheme
  • Hybrid working
  • Excellent benefits package
  • Social events and a culture where people actually want to come to work
  • Training, development, and clear career progression

This is a rare opportunity to shape a practice area with real investment behind you, within a team that's already established as a regional leader.
