Property Litigation Solicitor | 1+ PQE | Leeds

One of the UK's largest property litigation practices is recruiting in Leeds following significant client wins, and the opportunity matters for anyone looking to build deep expertise in residential landlord and tenant work.

The team acts for household-name landlords, investment portfolios, local authorities and developers on residential possession, disrepair defence, service charge disputes and contentious long leasehold matters, with the volume and complexity that comes with institutional clients and national reach.

The Work
The caseload is residential landlord and tenant litigation: contested possession claims, defending disrepair actions, advising on repairing obligations and compliance with the Renters Rights Act 2025, and handling housing law matters including rent repayment orders, HMO licensing, tenant breaches and rent increases.

At 1+ PQE, the expectation is proactive. Case management, direct client contact and taking initiative are built into the role from the start. As the practice expands, what begins as running files independently becomes supervising juniors, leading on client development and contributing to how the team operates.

The Platform
This is one of the largest property litigation practices in the UK, with strong regional teams, national clients and Legal 500 recognition. The Leeds team has local partners, which means direct access to senior lawyers rather than remote supervision.

The culture is collaborative and non-hierarchical, with an emphasis on real involvement in live matters and career progression.

Why This Makes Sense
Regulatory change is reshaping residential landlord and tenant work, and the Renters Rights Act 2025 will define the next phase of the sector. Building specialism now, at the point where institutional landlords need clear, strategic advice on possession, compliance and portfolio management, creates a portable skill set that translates into in-house roles, larger litigation teams or specialist housing practices.

Joining during expansion means more responsibility, more visibility and more opportunity to shape the team's approach to its growing caseload. The platform is national, the clients are high-profile, and the work is technically demanding, but the base is Leeds with a culture built around flexibility and development.
