Private Client / Private Wealth Solicitor
Part-Time (3 days per week) | Hybrid | Surrey
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 pro-rata
The Company
A highly regarded, independent wealth management and financial planning firm based in Surrey is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join its growing business.
The firm advises approximately 500 private clients, predominantly high-net-worth individuals and families, offering a comprehensive and joined-up service across investment management, financial planning, tax advice, estate planning, wills, trusts and probate. For many clients, the firm operates in a family office-style capacity, acting as a long-term trusted adviser across generations.
Well-established yet entrepreneurial in approach, the business continues to expand its services and develop new revenue streams, providing a stable but forward-looking environment for a senior private client lawyer.
Your Role
This is a senior, part-time appointment for a solicitor who enjoys autonomy, depth of client relationships and working within a multidisciplinary advisory team.
The successful candidate will act as the firm's sole in-house private client lawyer, working closely with a dedicated Tax Manager and experienced wealth planners.
Key responsibilities include:
Drafting and advising on wills, including complex and tax-efficient structures
Handling probate and estate administration from start to finish
Advising on the creation, management and variation of trusts
Supporting clients with inheritance tax planning and succession strategies
Acting as a trusted adviser to clients with long-standing family and business interests
Ensuring legal advice is fully integrated with wider financial and tax planning
Contributing to the development and growth of the firm's private client offering
Your Profile
This role would suit an experienced private client solicitor seeking flexibility, seniority and a different pace to traditional fee-earning practice.
You will have:
5+ years' PQE in private client / private wealth law
Strong technical expertise across wills, probate and trusts
Experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families
The ability to work independently and manage matters with minimal supervision
Background from private practice or an in-house role
A pragmatic, commercial and client-focused approach
Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with elderly clients and their families
Working Arrangements
Part-time: 3 days per week (flexible choice of days and hours)
Collegiate, professional and low-hierarchy working environment
Long-term, relationship-driven client work rather than transactional volume
