The work
You will advise individuals, families, trustees, and business owners on the full spectrum of private wealth matters. The team's recent instructions give a flavour of the variety:

• Advising trustees of a family trust on transferring land to the next generation while mitigating future inheritance tax

• Working alongside the strategic land team to structure a landowner's holding ahead of a promotion agreement

• Pre-arrival planning for a non-UK domiciled executive moving to the UK on secondment, coordinating with Italian advisers

• Restructuring an offshore trust and underlying company holding UK property, with beneficiaries in South Africa, Australia, and the UK

• Advising a UK/US couple on their estate planning, including reviewing a lifetime revocable grantor trust

• Administering an estate with significant farming-related assets and advising on APR and BPR claims

The caseload blends complex tax advice, succession planning, trust creation and administration, family business governance, will preparation, and estate administration. You will work with clients who have interesting and often international affairs, and you will be expected to build direct relationships from day one.

About you
You are a private client lawyer with at least five years' post-qualification experience, focused on protecting wealth, estate planning, and estate administration. You are comfortable taking responsibility quickly and you understand how to meet both financial and non-financial targets. You are technically strong but commercially minded, able to deliver advice in a way that reflects the client's objectives, not just the letter of the law.

You are a natural team player. You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities without fuss, and handle sensitive matters with discretion. You are self-motivated, curious, and ready to contribute to a practice that has serious ambitions.
