In-House Property Solicitor
Edinburgh
Lucrative Salary + Excellent Benefits Package

The Role & The Work
This is an In-House Property Solicitor position within the legal department of a significant national organisation, managing a portfolio of Scottish property that is as varied as it is fascinating.

With assets spread across the length and breadth of the country, many carrying genuine historic and cultural significance, the work here has a weight and character you simply won't encounter elsewhere.

You'll be handling a constant and varied flow of Scottish property transactions and matters from day one. Whether you're working through a complex acquisition, managing the disposal of a historic asset, dealing with title issues that reflect centuries of ownership, or advising on leases and occupational arrangements across a diverse estate, there is always something substantive to get into.

Working closely with colleagues across the wider legal department, you'll be a trusted adviser on all property matters, providing clear, practical guidance to a range of internal clients who depend on advice that is accurate, well-reasoned and delivered with real understanding of the organisation's needs and long-term goals.

The portfolio you'll be working with is genuinely unique. Some of these properties carry historic significance that goes far beyond their legal title and being the solicitor who takes these on, it is a real privilege as much as a responsibility.

This is a role for someone who wants to do serious property work, in a setting that offers a steady stream of quality instructions, without the pressures of private practice targets.

Your Experience

  • A qualified Scottish property solicitor with 3+ years' PQE and a solid grounding in residential or commercial property transactions
  • Comfortable handling a varied caseload independently, with strong technical knowledge of Scottish conveyancing and property law
  • Sharp attention to detail and a methodical approach to title investigation, drafting and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills; able to advise internal clients clearly and build trusted working relationships across the organisation
  • Well organised, self-motivated and able to manage a busy workload effectively without close supervision
  • An interest in or appreciation of historic property, land and estates would be a genuine advantage

Why This Role?

  • A permanent, in-house position with real stability and a constant pipeline of quality Scottish property work
  • A portfolio unlike any other - property with genuine historic value, character and meaning
  • The opportunity to work for one of Scotland's most enduring and significant national institutions
  • Escape the billable hour - focus entirely on doing excellent work for clients who value and depend on your advice
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment with a genuine commitment to your long-term development
  • Meaningful work that connects you to Scotland's land, history and communities in a way private practice rarely can.
