If you're already leading or close to leading a Family team but feel constrained by internal structure, limited influence, or lack of real ownership, this is a chance to step into a role where your impact is direct and visible. The Firm
This is a full-service London law firm with an established client base and a growing platform across key practice areas. The structure allows senior lawyers to operate with a high degree of independence, while still benefiting from central support and a collaborative wider team. You are not working within a rigid hierarchy, which means your ideas, client relationships, and commercial input have a direct influence on how the practice develops.

The Role
You will take ownership of an established Family department, leading on both the legal work and its ongoing development. Your day-to-day will include advising on a broad range of private family matters, including divorce, financial remedies, complex settlements, private children work, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. The work is varied, high quality, and often involves advising clients directly through sensitive and high-value matters.
Alongside fee-earning, you will be responsible for developing the department further. This includes building on existing client relationships, expanding referral networks, and identifying opportunities to grow the practice in a structured way.
You will lead and develop the team, mentoring junior lawyers and shaping how the department evolves. You will also work closely with the firm's leadership on strategy, ensuring continued growth and strong financial performance.
The Candidate
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 8+ years PQE in Family Law
- Strong background across private family matters, including financial remedies, children work, and matrimonial issues
- Experience operating at a senior level, with exposure to leadership or departmental responsibility
- Proven ability to generate work and build client relationships
- Comfortable taking ownership of an existing team and driving its next phase of growth
- Commercially aware, with a clear understanding of profitability and performance
