THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a well-established, publicly listed global financial services group with a substantial international footprint - operating across more than 15 countries and serving clients in over 200 jurisdictions worldwide. The group provides a broad range of investment and financial services to a diverse client base that spans individual investors, financial advisers, hedge funds and institutional counterparties. They are widely regarded as one of the leading firms in their sector and have built a strong reputation for innovation, operational excellence and regulatory rigour.
Their Irish entity is one of Ireland's leading investment firms, authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland, and forms a central part of the group's European operations. As the regulatory environment continues to evolve, the legal team plays an increasingly important role in supporting the business - and this is a new opportunity for an experienced financial regulatory lawyer to join that team in Dublin.
The successful candidate will work closely with business, compliance and operational stakeholders across the Irish entity, as well as with the group's wider European and global legal and compliance functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing day-to-day legal advice to internal stakeholders across the business on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters
- Advising on the design and roll-out of new products, services and business offerings - including cross-border activities, passporting arrangements and applicable conduct of business rules
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating customer-facing agreements, account documentation, disclosure materials and website content
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with institutional clients and counterparties
- Assisting with regulatory enquiries from the Central Bank of Ireland and other EU regulatory authorities, as well as EU and international exchanges
- Liaising and engaging with external legal advisers
YOUR PROFILE
- A qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in financial services regulation - qualified in Ireland, England & Wales, or another European jurisdiction
- Strong working knowledge of financial services regulation - including MiFID II, MiFIR, EMIR and related conduct of business frameworks
- Experience advising on CBI authorisation and supervision matters, regulatory change projects, or cross-border regulatory issues within the EU is advantageous
- Background at a law firm, financial institution, regulatory authority, exchange or broker-dealer - in-house experience at a regulated firm is an advantage
- Comfortable advising on the regulatory dimensions of new products, services and business structures
- Excellent drafting and communication skills - able to present complex regulatory matters in a clear, practical and commercially relevant way
- Collaborative and positive with the ability to build strong working relationships across legal, compliance and business functions in multiple jurisdictions
LOCATION
Dublin city centre. The role operates on a hybrid basis (four days in office, one day remote per week). The client is open to candidates who are relocating to Dublin.
