Employment Solicitor | 5+ Years PQE | Manchester
The employment team here doesn't just advise, it partners with clients. HR directors, boards, and senior executives come to this team for pragmatic, big-picture thinking, whether they are navigating a complex whistleblowing claim, restructuring a workforce, or managing a sensitive senior exit. The team is busy, growing, and recognised by both Legal 500 and Chambers, with a client satisfaction accolade that speaks to the quality of its people as much as its advice.
The opportunity
You will step into a varied, senior-level caseload from day one. High-value tribunal claims involving discrimination, whistleblowing, and unfair dismissal sit alongside board-level strategic mandates, restructures, TUPE, and urgent injunction work on confidential information and restrictive covenants. This is not a back-office advisory role, you will be in the thick of it, working directly with clients who see you as a trusted commercial partner.
The team is led by partners who are all ranked in the directories and who take pride in developing their people. You will work closely with them, mentoring juniors, contributing to know-how and client training, and helping to shape the direction of the practice. There is a large and growing retainer client base that gives you a steady diet of strategic advisory work, alongside the more unpredictable but rewarding rhythm of litigation.
Business development is actively supported, not just expected. A dedicated marketing team helps with directories, awards, and profile-raising, making it easier to build your own practice.
About you
You are an employment lawyer with at least 5 years experience, comfortable managing your own caseload and drafting to a high standard. You have a commercial communication style and an appetite for client development that aligns with a firm that values long-term relationships. Experience of advocacy is welcome but not essential. What matters is a collaborative mindset, the confidence to supervise and delegate within a busy team, and the ambition to progress in an environment where recent promotions reflect real momentum.
What's on offer
A competitive salary and bonus scheme, 25 days' annual leave (rising with service), hybrid working, a dress-for-your-day policy, and a supportive, flexible culture. The benefits package includes a pension scheme, electric vehicle lease option, health plan, life assurance, enhanced family leave, and more. You will be based in the heart of Manchester, with access to a thriving social scene, office gym, and structured development pathways that support your career.
