Employment Associate | 3+ PQE | Ipswich - Open to re-locaters
A Tier 1-ranked employment team in Ipswich is recruiting, and the opportunity matters for anyone looking to build genuine expertise in employment law while relocating to or returning to the area.
Over the next few years, someone joining now will go from managing a caseload with supervision to running complex employment matters independently, advising on high-stakes disputes and restructurings, and becoming a recognised employment specialist in the region.
The Role
- Advise on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters for a broad range of clients
- Handle wrongful and unfair dismissal, discrimination claims, redundancy and restructuring, TUPE, boardroom disputes and severance claims
- Draft service agreements, contracts of employment, staff handbooks and employment policies
- Support on transactional corporate work involving employment issues
- Conduct employment tribunal litigation and advise on professional discipline and conduct matters
- Early responsibility, high-quality mentoring and clear progression pathways
The Work
The caseload is diverse and sophisticated: general employment issues, drafting and reviewing contracts and policies, transactional corporate support, wrongful and unfair dismissal, redundancy and restructuring, TUPE, discrimination claims, employment tribunal litigation, trade union work and professional discipline matters.
As the practice continues to grow, early-stage responsibility becomes leading on complex matters, supervising junior lawyers and contributing to the team's strategic direction and client development.
The Platform
This is a full-service highly ranked law firm with a strong regional presence and national client base. The employment team is top ranked in major directories, with strong sector expertise and a reputation for commercial, pragmatic advice.
The culture is collegiate, supportive and focused on career development, with a strong commitment to diversity and flexible working. The working model is hybrid, with benefits including private healthcare, pension contributions, profit share, performance bonuses, enhanced parental leave and flexible working options.
Why This Makes Sense
This role works for people relocating to or returning to the Ipswich area who want to maintain high-quality employment work without compromising on platform, client base or progression.
The firm offers national-level work and top tier rankings, but with a regional base, lower cost of living and a flexible working model that prioritizes output over occupancy. The team's scale allows for varied caseloads, sector specialization and genuine client impact, while the supportive culture and high-quality mentoring make progression sustainable.
