Court of Protection Solicitor | 2+ PQE | Kent

Some legal work is about transactions. This work is about protecting people's dignity, autonomy, and futures when they're at their most vulnerable.

A highly respected, established firm in Whitstable is looking for a Court of Protection Solicitor to join its dedicated Vulnerable Client team. You'll handle a varied, meaningful caseload spanning Court of Protection matters, care fee funding, wills for vulnerable clients, and powers of attorney, working alongside experienced partners who've built a practice genuinely known for compassion, technical excellence, and getting results.

If you've got Court of Protection or deputyship experience, this is a natural next step. If you're a Private Client Solicitor looking to build expertise in vulnerable client work, you'll receive specific training to fill any knowledge gaps and mentorship from partners who are genuinely invested in developing you.

The Work

You'll handle a genuinely varied and meaningful caseload:

  • Court of Protection work at all levels: deputyship applications, health and welfare matters, property and affairs
  • Care fee funding advice including NHS Continuing Healthcare claims
  • Wills for vulnerable clients, including Advance Directives
  • Powers of Attorney advice, preparation and registration
  • Work directly with vulnerable clients, families, and care professionals
  • Build relationships and contribute to the firm's growth in this specialist area

This is hands-on work where your legal expertise directly improves people's lives and protects their interests during the times they most need support.

About You

  • 2+ PQE as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Ideally with Court of Protection and/or care fee funding experience
  • If coming from Private Client background, genuine interest in building vulnerable client expertise
  • Self-motivated, confident, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent client care, able to relate to vulnerable clients at all levels with genuine empathy
  • Strong team player with collaborative approach
  • Enthusiasm for business development and networking
  • Good academic background and commercial awareness

What's On Offer

  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience and background)
  • Join a small and thriving, well-established, respected team (1 Partner + 1 Senior Associate + support)
  • Work directly with an experienced partner who's a genuine expert in vulnerable client work
  • Specific training provided to fill any knowledge gaps
  • Excellent mentorship and development opportunities
  • Genuine career progression within a firm known for promoting from within
  • Work-life balance and supportive culture
  • The chance to do work that genuinely makes a difference

Why This Works

This isn't a factory processing vulnerable client matters. It's a specialist team that understands the complexity, sensitivity, and importance of this work. The firm has invested in building a practice that's known for technical excellence and genuine care, rare in this area.

You'll work alongside a partner who are leaders in vulnerable client law, learning from the best while having real autonomy and client ownership. The team is small enough for genuine mentorship and development, large enough to handle meaningful work.

If you want Court of Protection work with purpose, proper support, and a team that values both technical excellence and human compassion, this is it.
