This is a rare opportunity to build a market-leading practice within a firm that offers an unusually long runway to develop your client base, backed by genuine support, patience and investment.

You will step into a practice with an existing high-calibre book of work, while being given the freedom and time to shape a distinctive, enduring Corporate presence in Glasgow, supported by a wider Scotland-wide platform.

About the Team

  • Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked Corporate team within a respected full-service Scottish firm.
  • Part of a wider business services group advising start-ups, owner-managed businesses, scale-ups and larger corporates.
  • Strong focus on sectors such as technology, video games, life sciences, healthcare, food and drink, energy and retail.
  • Particular strength in M&A, equity investments, disposals, restructurings and general corporate advisory work.
  • Modern, collegiate culture with closely aligned offices across the country.
  • Partners and senior lawyers are independently recognised for their expertise and are known for being hands-on and supportive.

About the Role

This is a leadership role at Partner level within a well-established, growing Corporate practice. The role will involve:

  • Taking on and developing an existing pipeline of quality Corporate work across key sectors.
  • Advising entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, investors and larger corporates on the full range of corporate and commercial matters.
  • Leading on M&A, scale-ups, funding rounds, equity investments, restructurings and general corporate advisory work from strategy to completion.
  • Having real autonomy to grow your own client base over the medium to long term, with a clear runway to build a substantial Glasgow practice.
  • Working closely with fellow Partners on complex, high-profile transactions and benefiting from their experience and networks.
  • Building and mentoring a local team, supporting recruitment, supervision and development of junior lawyers.
  • Playing a central role in business development and the strategic growth of the Glasgow office.

You will be trusted to shape the direction of the Glasgow Corporate practice, with no artificial ceiling on progression and a credible short-term pathway to Equity.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Extensive Corporate experience, likely at Partner level or as a senior lawyer ready to step into Partnership.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a deep understanding of company law and corporate transactions.
  • A track record of leading corporate deals and building long-term client relationships.
  • Proven ability in business development and an appetite to help shape a Glasgow-focused Corporate offering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive, innovative mindset and enthusiasm for working with entrepreneurial and high-growth clients.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members, with strong delegation and supervisory skills.

  • Strong platform - You will benefit from a full-service, Scotland-wide platform with recognised strength in Corporate and Commercial work and a growing business client base.
  • High-quality work - You will work on significant transactions for innovative and high-growth businesses as well as established corporates.
