Contentious Construction Solicitor | Commercial Litigation Background Considered | Cardiff | Hybrid
Construction is one of the highest-paying and most specialist areas of law, but making the move into it can often feel difficult without direct experience.
This opportunity is designed for lawyers who want to make that transition.
A highly regarded UK law firm is looking to strengthen its Contentious Construction team in Cardiff and is open to speaking with both experienced Construction Solicitors and Commercial Litigation Solicitors who are interested in developing a career within construction disputes.
If you have built your career handling complex commercial disputes and are looking for a more specialist practice area with excellent long-term prospects, this is an opportunity to move into construction without having to start from scratch.
You'll join an established team acting on complex, high-value disputes for developers, contractors, consultants, housebuilders and commercial clients. Working alongside experienced specialists, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of contentious construction matters while continuing to develop your technical expertise.
The Role
You'll work on a varied caseload of contentious construction matters, including:
- Construction contract disputes
- Adjudications, mediation and litigation
- Delay, defects and payment claims
- Professional negligence matters
- Advising clients on risk, strategy and dispute resolution
For candidates with existing construction experience, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your own matters and play a key role within the team.
For Commercial Litigation solicitors, you'll be supported in building your construction knowledge while utilising the skills you already have in managing complex disputes, advising clients and running contentious matters.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- A genuine route into one of the legal market's most lucrative specialist areas
- Commercial Litigation solicitors encouraged to apply, with no prior construction experience required
- High-quality, complex work for a strong client base
- The opportunity to develop a specialist construction practice alongside experienced lawyers
- A growing team with clear opportunities for progression
- Hybrid working and a collaborative culture
About You
You'll ideally have:
- 2+ PQE experience in either Contentious Construction or Commercial Litigation
- Experience handling complex disputes and providing commercial advice
- Strong drafting, negotiation and client management skills
- An interest in developing a long-term career within Construction law
Whether you are already specialising in Construction or are a Commercial Litigator looking for your next step, this is a rare opportunity to build expertise in an area of law that continues to grow in demand.
