Contentious Construction Solicitor (2-4 PQE)

The Role
A leading Scottish law firm is seeking a talented Contentious Construction Solicitor (2-5 PQE) to join its highly regarded, Tier 2 Construction department in Edinburgh.
This is an exceptional opportunity to build a uniquely varied contentious practice, spanning property disputes, contentious construction matters and specialist telecoms work.
Working with a highly regarded Partner, you'll support senior colleagues, manage your own matters, and gain hands-on experience across courts and tribunals.
You will advise an impressive client base on complex, technical and strategically significant disputes, including contractual disagreements, landlord/tenant issues, title and boundary matters, servitudes, rights of way, professional indemnity claims, and post-completion construction defects.
This is a role with genuine breadth and clear long-term career progression.
The Work
- Support business development, client management and cross-departmental initiatives
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider department
- Handle a varied caseload of property litigation and contentious construction matters
- Advise on contract disputes, landlord/tenant issues, boundaries, servitudes, title and property-related debt recovery
- Work on specialist telecoms matters for a growing national client base
- Assist and lead on contentious construction matters, including post-completion defects and professional indemnity issues
- Conduct legal research and contribute to written advocacy and pleadings
- Appear in court and tribunals, developing your advocacy skills
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and internal training
Your Experience
- 2-4 years PQE with experience in Contentious Construction and Property Litigation
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing work
- Ability to manage varied workloads and meet deadlines
- Team-focused, with the ability to work independently when required
- Demonstrates initiative, good judgement and a proactive approach to learning
