Construction Solicitor | 1+ PQE | Belfast

A market-leading construction practice is recruiting in Belfast, and the opportunity sits at a pivotal point for anyone looking to build deep technical expertise in construction, energy and infrastructure work.

This team advises on complex, high-value construction mandates across energy and infrastructure sectors, working with leading domestic and international clients on nationally important projects. Over the next few years, someone joining now will go from supporting major construction matters to running their own files, advising on project delivery and becoming a recognised construction specialist in the Northern Irish market.

The Role

  • Advise on significant construction mandates across energy and infrastructure sectors
  • Work with leading clients including major contractors, developers, energy companies and infrastructure investors
  • Support on construction contracts, project delivery issues and procurement structures
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the UK and international network on cross-border matters
  • Develop deep technical construction expertise while working on high-profile projects
  • Early responsibility, direct partner exposure and clear progression pathways

The Work

The caseload is construction-focused with sector depth in energy and infrastructure: drafting and negotiating construction contracts, advising on project delivery and procurement, supporting on front-end structuring and working on major residential, commercial and infrastructure schemes.

At 1+ PQE, the expectation is proactive involvement from day one. What starts as supporting on major construction mandates becomes running files independently, advising on contract risk and strategy, and contributing to business development as the practice grows.

The Platform

The construction team is truly international, delivering projects around the world for leading names in the infrastructure market for more than 40 years. The platform supports progression, strong training, specialist career development, close partner support and a collaborative, commercially focused culture.

Why This Makes Sense

Building specialism now, at a point where infrastructure, energy transition and major regeneration projects are driving demand for construction lawyers, creates a skill set that translates into senior roles, in-house positions or specialist practices later in a career.

Joining a market-leading team with global reach means access to high-end mandates, directory-leading rankings and the chance to work on complex, cross-border projects while based in Belfast. The firm emphasizes innovation, inclusion and flexible career paths, with structured development and clear progression routes.
