Commercial & Rural Property Solicitor | NQ-3 PQE | Winchester
A well-regarded property team in Winchester is looking for a junior solicitor to join a practice that combines commercial real estate with rural and agricultural property work.
This is not a large, faceless department. You would be joining a small group handling a mixed caseload, commercial transactions, farm sales, estate restructures and high-end rural homes, with direct exposure to partners and senior lawyers from the start.
The Work
You will handle commercial and rural property transactions across the full spectrum: acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant, development work, strategic land agreements, farm sales and estate restructuring.
You will take responsibility for running files where appropriate, taking instructions, investigating title, raising enquiries, drafting documentation, preparing reports and seeing matters through to completion and registration. On larger or more complex transactions, you will work alongside the partner and senior lawyers, but the expectation is that you get involved early and contribute meaningfully.
The client base is broad: property developers, investors, retailers, farming families, landed estates and high-net-worth individuals. Many are long-standing relationships, which means repeat instructions and the chance to build continuity rather than churning through one-off deals.
You will work with the firm's private client, planning and corporate teams when transactions involve tax structuring, succession planning or diversification schemes. That cross-practice collaboration is part of the service model and gives you exposure to how property sits within wider family and business objectives.
The Platform
The firm is one of the best rated regional practices in central southern England, and the property team is recognised by Chambers and Legal 500 as a leader in the region.
Winchester is a strong base for this kind of work, with a particular focus on property finance, rural estates and agricultural clients. The culture is collegiate and responsive, with client feedback emphasising clear communication and a constructive approach to transactions.
Why This Makes Sense
You will work in a small team where you have visibility and direct access to experienced lawyers. At NQ-3 PQE, that means earlier responsibility, real client contact and the chance to build your own practice rather than waiting years for autonomy.
The mix of commercial and rural property is distinctive. Most firms at this level offer one or the other, here you get both, which gives you a broader grounding and makes you more versatile as you progress.
Some prior experience with rural or agricultural property is useful, but the firm is open to teaching the right person. What matters is that you are organised, commercially minded, detail-focused and interested in building a mixed property practice.
If you want quality property work with real variety and the chance to develop across commercial and rural real estate, this is worth a conversation.
