Leading International Firm | Commercial Disputes Associate | NQ +

An opportunity for a junior lawyer to join a market-leading commercial disputes team in Leeds, working on high-value, complex litigation for blue-chip clients, with structured support to build your career from the ground up.

The Firm
This is a leading international law firm with a significant UK presence and a reputation for technical excellence, commercial acumen, and innovation. It is consistently recognised by independent commentators as one of the top-tier disputes and investigations practices in the market, with a strong presence across all major UK cities.

The firm's culture is built on collaboration, support, and investment in people. It provides structured training, mentoring, and clear career progression from day one. Hybrid working is standard, and the firm actively encourages lawyers to think creatively about how technology, including AI, can enhance client service.

The Team
The Commercial Disputes group operates as one national and international team, recognised in every market it operates in for its commercial and innovative approach to resolving business disputes. The team combines formal court and arbitral proceedings with all forms of alternative dispute resolution to deliver results tailored to each client's commercial objectives.

A key differentiator is the team's close collaboration with non-contentious colleagues, ensuring a deep understanding of the transactions behind the disputes. This gives the group a significant edge when facing magic circle, major City, and US firms. Clients include FTSE 100 companies, public sector bodies, and high-net-worth individuals across sectors such as retail, transport, digital, energy, and financial services.

The Role
This is an ideal role for a newly or recently qualified lawyer looking to build a broad and high-quality commercial disputes practice. You will be proactive, agile, and supported to develop your technical skills across a wide-ranging caseload. You will work closely with experienced partners and associates on matters that are often complex and multi-jurisdictional, gaining exposure to a variety of sectors and dispute types.

You will be encouraged to think commercially and flexibly, including how new tools can improve client outcomes. Client relationship building is central; you will collaborate with colleagues across practice areas and industry groups, and be supported to start building your own network of contacts. Continuous development is a priority, with access to formal technical and skills training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership programmes from the outset.

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a collaborative team player
  • Keen to engage in business development and build long-term client relationships
