Leading International Firm | Commercial Disputes Associate | NQ+
An opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer with contentious experience to join a cross-office Commercial Disputes team, working on a broad mix of national and international disputes, with investment in your development from day one.
The Firm
This is a City-led international firm with a strong UK base and offices across the globe, further supported by a strategic global partnership. The firm has built its reputation on the quality of its work and the strength of its people, not simply its scale.
The culture is collaborative, inclusive, and different from many peers. The firm places real emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion, and its strategic direction is shaped by a desire to grow responsibly, with ESG principles at its core. Lawyers are given meaningful responsibility early, and the firm invests heavily in learning, development, and long-term career progression.
The Team
The Commercial Disputes team works across UK offices, advising on a broad spectrum of contentious matters with a strong international dimension. The team handles contractual and commercial disputes, public law disputes (including judicial review and procurement litigation), professional negligence, injunctions, reputation management, and contentious insolvency. It is known for a commercial, solutions-focused approach and for collaborating closely with colleagues across practice areas and jurisdictions.
The Role
You will support the team on a wide range of commercial litigation matters, whether through litigation, arbitration, or alternative dispute resolution. You will manage your own caseload under appropriate supervision, assist partners and senior lawyers on larger, more complex matters, and build effective client relationships from an early stage. You will also contribute to business development and marketing initiatives, including client training and seminars, and ensure files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures.
This is a role that encourages you to think beyond the law and into the commercial. You will be supported at partner level and by colleagues across the department, with a genuine commitment to helping you build technical expertise, client management skills, and your own professional profile.
The Ideal Candidate
- Newly qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with strong contentious experience gained during your training contract
- Exposure to a broad range of disputes, with an interest in commercial litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution
- A commercial and common-sense approach, with excellent drafting and communication skills
- Drive and enthusiasm, with a strong client focus and a commitment to service delivery
- A collaborative team player, flexible and willing to contribute to business development and marketing activities
What's on Offer
- A broad and high-quality disputes caseload, with a genuine international focus
- Early responsibility and client contact within a supportive, partner-led environment
- Real investment in your development, with structured career progression and training
- A collaborative, inclusive culture that values individuality and long-term growth
- Competitive salary and benefits, hybrid working, and flexible holiday scheme
