Clinical Negligence Associate | Bristol

There's a point in most claimant clinical negligence careers where the work is there, the technical ability is proven, but the exposure isn't quite where it should be.

This is a role that changes that.

An established and well-regarded Clinical Negligence team in Bristol is looking to bring in an Associate to work closely with a Partner on high-value birth injury matters. These are complex, often life-changing cases where you'll be properly involved, not just supporting from the sidelines.

The work spans the full range of clinical negligence, from birth injury through to dental negligence, but the real focus is on quality over volume. You'll be trusted with responsibility, encouraged to build your own client relationships, and given the space to develop your judgement on strategy, risk and outcomes.

You'll also play a visible role internally. There's an expectation that you'll support and mentor more junior lawyers, contribute to the team's approach to risk and case management, and start to build your own profile in the market over time.

What they're looking for is relatively straightforward:

A qualified solicitor with around 4+ years' PQE
Solid experience in clinical negligence, with exposure to higher value or complex matters (ideally birth injury)
Someone who has supported on more technical cases and is ready to step into a more involved, front-foot role
An individual who is commercially aware, organised, and comfortable managing both clients and caseload

The wider firm is a well-established Top 100 with a strong presence across the South West, Thames Valley and London. There's proper infrastructure, a clear growth plan, and a track record of developing people without overpromising.
