The Department

The Corporate M&A group provides all parties to a transaction with informed legal advice to help them achieve their goals. With market-leading credentials in both private M&A and public takeovers they are well positioned.

The Role

This is a great opportunity to work as a Knowledge Lawyer within a leading silver circle firm's Corporate group, from their City of London office.

The role involves working alongside a senior Knowledge Counsel in the Corporate M&A and ECM team, as well as collaborating with a wider group of knowledge lawyers both across the Corporate team and firmwide.

The work will focus on drawing together all knowledge resources spanning company law topics, with particular focus on public companies (including ECM, public takeovers, and corporate governance).

The role will encompass both internal and client-facing activities such as thought leadership publications, briefings, and tailored training; it represents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to help take the department's know-how function to new heights.

The successful candidate will be able to draw on assistance from the department's Senior Knowledge paralegal and will work closely with the embedded Business Development and Operations teams. The knowledge function is integral to the continued success of the practice; you will help enhance our reputation for being at the forefront of thinking on legal and regulatory developments and market practice affecting public companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ongoing monitoring of developments and horizon-scanning.
  • Supporting the collation of departmental know-how, including capturing know-how from recent transactions.
  • Dealing with queries from fee earners at all levels.
  • Creating and updating precedents.
  • Organising and/or delivering training programmes, as well as ad hoc training sessions.
  • Curating the internal knowledge resources and identifying content to share.
  • Contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives and groups.
  • Drafting articles, briefings and commentary for the firm's website and social media channels on developments in ECM, public M&A and corporate governance.
  • Briefing partners in advance of CLLS /Law Society Company Law Committee meetings.
  • Collaborating with knowledge colleagues from other City law firms via networking groups.
  • Attending webinars hosted by regulatory and industry bodies
