Planning Associate | 2 to 6 Years PQE | Top 50 International Firm | Manchester

An opportunity for a Planning Solicitor to join a highly respected Top 50 international firm in Manchester, working on some of the most complex regeneration, infrastructure and development schemes in the UK market. With real estate accounting for half of the firm's overall turnover, planning sits at the core of the practice rather than at its edges.

The Firm

A long established international practice with offices across the UK, Middle East and Asia, recognised for market leading work across real estate, education, energy, healthcare, leisure, finance and major projects. Real estate is one of its defining strengths and is highly ranked in the Legal 500.

The team regularly advises on multimillion pound portfolio transactions, regeneration schemes, public sector housing projects and real estate finance, which gives its lawyers a platform to work on significant, forward looking matters without the rigidity that often comes with a firm of this scale.

The culture combines the quality of a City practice with a more collaborative and flexible approach. For a planning lawyer who wants top tier work without a top tier working environment, that combination is the real draw.

The Role

You will join a Legal 500 ranked Planning team acting for clients across both the private and public sectors, advising on complex regeneration, relocation, infrastructure and environmental matters alongside particular expertise in energy, real estate and development.

Working closely with highly regarded partners and senior lawyers, you will have hands on involvement in high value matters from the outset while building your own client relationships. At two to six PQE this is the stage where a planning practice starts to become your own, and the role is structured to support that. There are also opportunities to collaborate with the firm's international offices.

Examples of work include:

  • Section 106 agreements
  • Acting for public authorities
  • Planning due diligence and corporate support
  • Major development schemes
  • Inquiry work

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Solicitor with two to six years PQE and solid planning experience
  • Strong technical ability, comfortable managing a varied caseload and client demands
  • Enthusiastic about client development and contributing to the growth of the practice
  • Collaborative, with a willingness to support colleagues and work across teams

What's on Offer

  • Premier quality planning work within a top tier international firm
  • Excellent training, mentoring and long term career development
  • Exposure to a broad range of high value, complex projects
  • Opportunity to work alongside the firm's international offices
  • Hybrid working with a real focus on balance
  • Competitive salary, bonus structure and comprehensive benefits
