Non-Contentious Construction Senior Associate (5+ PQE) | West End | Legal 500 & Spears Ranked Firm

Are you a Non-Contentious Construction Solicitor seeking a senior role within a highly regarded West End practice where you can work on complex development projects, play a visible role in the growth of the team and build a clear pathway towards Partnership?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing Construction practice with an established reputation in the London market, advising on high-value development, regeneration and financing projects alongside one of the firm's strongest Real Estate and Real Estate Finance offerings.

The Firm

This firm has one of the most respected names across London. They are a multi-service practice and consistently compete with larger City and West End firms for the quality of work they undertake and the clients they represent. Ranked in the Legal 500 and recognised by Spears, the firm has experienced significant growth in recent years through strategic hires, strong leadership and an outstanding reputation within its core sectors.

The culture is one of the firm's defining strengths. Lawyers enjoy a genuinely supportive and collaborative environment, with direct access to partners, meaningful client contact and the opportunity to take ownership of matters from an early stage.

Unlike many larger firms, progression is visible and achievable, with senior lawyers encouraged to play an active role in shaping the future direction of their practice areas.

The firm is entrepreneurial, commercially minded and committed to innovation, continually investing in technology and modern ways of working to enhance both client service and lawyer development.

The Team

The Construction team is a well-established and growing practice that advises developers, lenders, investors, contractors, consultants and occupiers across a broad range of sectors. Working closely with the firm's highly regarded Real Estate Development and Real Estate Finance teams, the department provides strategic advice throughout the lifecycle of major development projects.

The team has built a strong reputation for its expertise in non-contentious construction matters and is regularly instructed on complex residential, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, retail and regeneration schemes throughout London and beyond.

With a strong pipeline of work and ambitious growth plans, the team is now seeking an experienced Senior Associate who can play a key role in managing client relationships, supervising junior lawyers and contributing to the continued development of the practice.

The Role

As a Senior Associate, you will take a leading role on a broad range of non-contentious construction matters, acting as a trusted adviser to an established client base while working closely with partners on strategic and technically complex projects.

You will advise on matters including:

  • Procurement and contract strategy
  • Drafting and negotiating JCT, NEC and bespoke construction contracts
  • Development agreements and development management agreements
  • Professional appointments and consultant documentation
  • Pre-construction services agreements and letters of intent
  • Collateral warranties and third-party rights arrangements
  • Performance bonds, guarantees and security packages
  • Construction aspects of real estate finance transactions
  • Large-scale residential, mixed-use, commercial and hospitality developments
  • Risk allocation, project structuring and dispute avoidance strategies

Alongside managing sophisticated transactions, you will play an important role in supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, supporting their technical and professional development and helping to maintain the team's high standards of client service.

You will also work closely with partners on client relationship management, business development initiatives and strategic growth opportunities, making this an excellent opportunity for an ambitious lawyer seeking a platform for longer-term progression.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' PQE (England & Wales) solicitor with a strong experience advising on non-contentious construction matters
  • Experience acting on development projects and construction aspects of real estate transactions
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across a broad range of construction documentation
  • Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and run matters with appropriate supervision
  • An interest in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team development
  • Enthusiasm for business development and helping to grow an established practice

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate to join a highly regarded West End firm and play a key role in the continued growth of an established Construction practice, while gaining exposure to some of the most significant development and financing projects in the market.
