Are you a Construction Solicitor looking to specialise in high-quality non-contentious construction work within a highly regarded West End practice?

The Team

The Construction team is a well-established practice that advises developers, lenders, contractors, consultants and end-users across a broad range of sectors. Working closely with the firm's highly regarded Real Estate Development and Real Estate Finance teams, the department provides seamless support throughout the lifecycle of a project, from initial procurement through to completion.

Led by a longstanding, specialist Partner the team is recognised for its expertise in non-contentious construction and engineering matters, advising on complex development projects across the residential, commercial, hospitality, retail and regeneration sectors.

The team acts on a number of significant London developments and is regularly instructed on large-scale mixed-use, residential, hotel and commercial projects for an impressive client base of developers, investors and lenders.

The Role

The firm is seeking a Non-Contentious Construction Associate to join its growing team.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of construction and development matters, working directly with partners and senior lawyers on high-value projects while developing strong client relationships and commercial awareness.

You will advise on matters including:

  • Procurement and contract strategy
  • Drafting and negotiating building contracts, including JCT and NEC forms
  • Development agreements and development management agreements
  • Pre-construction services agreements and letters of intent
  • Professional appointments for consultants and project teams
  • Collateral warranties and third-party rights documentation
  • Performance bonds, guarantees and security documentation
  • Construction aspects of real estate finance transactions
  • Development and regeneration projects
  • Risk management and dispute avoidance advice throughout project lifecycles

The role will suit someone who enjoys working closely with clients and project teams, taking a commercial and pragmatic approach to legal issues while gaining exposure to some of the most significant development work undertaken by a firm of this size.

Requirements

  • NQ - 5 years' PQE (England & Wales) solicitor with experience in non-contentious construction matters
  • Experience drafting and negotiating construction documentation
  • Strong commercial awareness and an interest in the real estate and development sectors
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • A collaborative approach and desire to contribute to the continued growth of the team
