Intellectual Property & Media Litigation Associate | 1-5 PQE | West End | Legal 500 & Chambers Ranked Law Firm

Are you an IP or media disputes solicitor looking to develop your career within a specialist practice advising clients across the entertainment, music, film, television and creative industries? This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded London law firm, working on a broad range of contentious intellectual property and media matters.

The role sits within the firm's Dispute Resolution team, working closely with its wider Intellectual Property practice. You will gain exposure to complex and often high-profile disputes, advising an impressive client base of individuals, rights holders and businesses operating across the creative industries.

The Firm

This leading London law firm is recognised for its deep-rooted presence in the music, media, entertainment and technology sectors, with a client base that reads like the credits of an awards ceremony. It would be difficult to find a major name in the media industry that the firm has not advised, with its work frequently making international press.

The firm has built its reputation representing UHNW/HNW individuals and businesses across all areas of law, often advising artists at pivotal stages of their careers, alongside complex corporate, commercial, technology, IP and wealth matters.

The practice is highly ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers, with a growing number of lawyers recognised as leaders in their field. As a full-service firm, it combines specialist sector expertise with a broad commercial offering, allowing lawyers to work closely with other teams across the business.

Recent work includes advising on a landmark entertainment deal with one of the world's largest companies, valued in excess of $2 billion.

Culturally, the firm stands out for its entrepreneurial approach and long-term investment in its people. Many partners are home-grown, and the firm enjoys strong staff retention, reflecting a supportive and engaging environment where lawyers are encouraged to build sustainable careers.

The Team

The IP & Media Litigation practice sits within the wider Dispute Resolution team, which advises on complex domestic and international disputes across the firm's core sectors, including music, film and television, media, computer games and sport.

The team takes a commercially focused approach to contentious matters, working with clients to identify key issues early, develop effective strategies and achieve the best possible outcomes. Its work spans litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.

You will work closely with a highly regarded partner specialising in IP and media litigation, with particular experience in music, media and entertainment disputes, intellectual property infringement claims, audit claims, and disputes involving artists, managers and bands.

The role will also involve close collaboration with the wider Intellectual Property team, whose expertise covers the protection, enforcement and exploitation of intellectual property rights, including copyright, trade marks, moral rights and database rights.

This provides an opportunity to develop a strong contentious practice within a firm where intellectual property and the creative industries are central to its work.

Your work is likely to include:

  • Intellectual property disputes, including copyright infringement and rights enforcement.

  • General commercial disputes arising within the firm's core sectors.
  • Supporting litigation strategy, drafting pleadings and correspondence, managing disclosure and preparing cases for hearings.
