Construction Senior Associate | 5+ Years PQE | Legal 500 & Chambers Ranked | Manchester

A strong opportunity for an experienced Construction lawyer to join one of Manchester's most well-known and established practices, at a firm that has recently made a significant investment in its office footprint and has clear ambitions to continue growing.

The Firm

This firm is a Manchester household name. With a reputation built over many years in the city, it has become one of the most recognisable and well-regarded practices in the North West, consistently attracting lawyers from Top 30 international practices who want better work-life balance, a quality of work that matches or exceeds what they were doing before and a culture that actually lives up to what it promises.

The firm has recently made a significant investment in its Manchester office space, expanding its footprint considerably to accommodate an ambitious next phase of growth.

That investment in space reflects a broader investment in people, and the firm's plans for further expansion make this an exciting moment to be joining. Most of the partners have been with the firm for over ten years, staff retention is excellent and the environment is collegiate, accessible and supportive of long-term career development.

The Team

The Construction team is Legal 500 ranked and has grown consistently year on year, building a strong reputation for high-quality work across both contentious and non-contentious matters.

The team advises a broad mix of public and private sector clients through all stages of development, combining strong technical expertise with a practical, commercially focused approach that clients return to time and again.

The team handles the full spectrum of construction work including bonds, contracts, procurement, due diligence, partnering, funding arrangements, joint ventures, development work, insolvency-related construction matters and maintenance disputes.

The Role

You will take on a varied and high-quality caseload, running your own matters with genuine autonomy whilst working closely alongside the partner on more complex instructions.

The firm is open to candidates from a contentious, non-contentious or mixed background, and the breadth of the team's offering means there is scope to work across both disciplines as you develop within the role.

You will advise a broad and interesting client base spanning major developers, contractors, public sector bodies and private sector businesses, building direct client relationships and playing an active role in the continued growth of the department. At this level there is also a real opportunity to develop your supervisory skills, supporting and mentoring junior members of the team as the practice continues to expand.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years PQE in Construction law
  • Experience across contentious, non-contentious or a mix of both
  • Confident running a varied caseload independently with strong technical and commercial ability
  • Comfortable managing client relationships directly and developing your own profile in the market

What's on Offer

  • A varied and high-quality Construction caseload within one of Manchester's most established practices
  • A firm that has recently expanded its office footprint significantly with clear plans for further growth
  • Direct mentorship from experienced partners in a firm where people choose to stay
  • Competitive salary, hybrid working and a dress-for-your-day policy
  • A dedicated marketing function to support your profile and business development activity
