Commercial Litigation Partner | Top 30 International Firm | Manchester

A rare and exciting opportunity for a senior Commercial Litigator to join a strong and well established bench of disputes partners in Manchester, at a firm that has identified the office as its primary regional growth priority.

The Firm

This Top 30 international firm has a strong and well established presence across Europe, the US and Asia. Consistently ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers across multiple disciplines, the firm is recognised for combining technical excellence with a commercially focused, modern approach to legal services.

The firm has built a strong platform across Corporate, Real Estate, Finance and Dispute Resolution in Manchester, and is now focused on bolstering and complementing that offering with senior lateral hires across key practice areas. This is not a firm building from scratch in the North West. The infrastructure is in place, the reputation is established and the focus is firmly on the next phase of growth.

For those with an interest in developing an international dimension to their practice, the firm's international network presents a compelling additional opportunity. Partners who develop cross border instructions through the European/APAC platform receive credited referrals directly towards their business case, offering a tangible and supported route to growing beyond a purely domestic practice.

The Role

The Commercial Litigation practice in Manchester already has a strong bench of partners behind it, and that is a major part of what makes this role so attractive. You will be joining a team of established, well regarded practitioners rather than being asked to build a function alone, with the credibility, the colleagues and the client relationships already in place to support you from day one.

The firm is looking for a senior Commercial Litigator who can complement that existing partner group, bringing their own clients, sector focus and specialisms to deepen the offering and take the practice into its next phase.

The wider Corporate, Real Estate and Finance teams provide a natural source of referrals, and the strength of the partners around you means you will be working alongside people who understand the market and who are invested in each other's success.

The work is broad and commercially interesting, spanning contractual and shareholder disputes, professional negligence, fraud and asset recovery, banking and finance disputes, insolvency related litigation, injunctions and urgent interim relief, alongside cross border matters where the wider network is involved.

The firm will have a sensible and considered conversation around how your existing client relationships and litigation expertise can be structured into a realistic and achievable business case. Clients take time, relationships need to be nurtured and the first year rarely tells the full story. The expectation here is a long term partnership, not short term results under undue pressure.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Commercial Litigation Partner with a strong technical background across a broad range of commercial disputes
  • Well networked across the corporate and business community in the North West and beyond
  • Commercially minded with existing client relationships and a real appetite to grow
  • Collaborative by nature and keen to work as part of a strong partner group
  • Ambitious and motivated to take a senior role in a growing and well backed office

What's on Offer

  • The chance to join a strong and established bench of Commercial Litigation partners
  • A collaborative partner group with the credibility and market profile to support your own business case
  • An immediate and natural source of contentious referrals from established Corporate, Real Estate and Finance teams
  • Access to a strong European network with credited referrals available towards your business case
  • Physical space, infrastructure and business services support already in place
  • A firm that takes a long term and considered view on partner integration and business development
  • Competitive remuneration in line with the quality of work and platform on offer
