The Role

This international firm is looking to appoint a Real Estate Litigation Associate to join its established and growing national Real Estate Litigation team in Newcastle, where flexible and hybrid working is not just something that is talked about but actually put into practice.
The work is centred around real estate litigation, with a particularly strong corporate occupier client base across the retail sector. You'll work with well-known names including major retailers and brands, alongside significant telecoms clients. The team handles a broad range of property disputes, including asset management, dilapidations, lease renewals, forfeiture, landlord and tenant issues and telecoms work, with the opportunity to develop your knowledge across areas where you may not yet have experience.
The team is set up to support development, with access to experienced lawyers and dedicated Real Estate paralegal support, alongside a real emphasis on giving people the opportunity to learn and take ownership of their work. Whether you're looking to develop your technical expertise as a junior lawyer or are a more experienced lawyer seeking senior progression, the team is open to supporting the right person and helping you build on your existing experience.
The Work
- Advising corporate occupiers, landlords and other clients on a broad range of commercial property disputes.
- Acting on opposed and unopposed 1954 Act lease renewals.
- Advising on contractual and statutory notices.
- Handling dilapidations disputes and settlement negotiations.
- Advising on asset management issues and landlord and tenant disputes.
- Dealing with forfeiture, possession, rent arrears and landlord remedies including CRAR.
- Advising on restrictive covenants, break options, rights of way and boundary disputes.
- Handling trespass, nuisance and other commercial property disputes.
- Developing experience in telecoms property litigation, working with major telecoms operators.
- Advising on property issues arising from insolvency.
- Managing your own matters and taking responsibility for delivering high-quality client service.
- Working closely with the transactional Real Estate team on matters arising from property deals and development.
- Developing relationships with existing and new clients and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
Your Experience
- English & Welsh Qualified Solicitor with 2+ PQE in Real Estate Litigation
- Experience in areas such as lease renewals, dilapidations, landlord and tenant disputes, forfeiture, possession, rent arrears or property-related litigation.
- Strong technical ability combined with a practical and commercial approach.
- Comfortable taking ownership of your matters while knowing when to seek support.
- A positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Clear interest in developing a long-term career within Real Estate Litigation.
