Leading South East Firm | Property Litigation Associate | 2+ PQE

An opportunity to join one of the largest specialist property litigation teams in the South East, handling high-quality, complex disputes for an impressive client base that regularly sees the team pitched against leading national and City firms.

The Firm
This is a well-established, growing firm with offices across London and the South East, employing over 400 people. It provides a comprehensive range of commercial, corporate, real estate, dispute resolution, employment, and private client services. The firm has earned gold accreditation from Investors in People, with recent staff surveys boasting 90%+ satisfaction rates across multiple categories.

The Team
The Real Estate Dispute Resolution team is one of the largest standalone property litigation practices in the South East. It is highly ranked across both the Legal 500 and Chambers for Real Estate Litigation in the region. The team advises on the full spectrum of contentious residential and commercial property matters, with equal strength across both. Specialist expertise includes collective enfranchisement, lease extensions, right to manage, complex business rates, telecoms, rights to light, restrictive covenants, Building Safety Act matters, and property-related insolvency.

The client list is impressive and includes national residential developers, local authorities, national banks, major retailers, significant regional property investors, and several charities. The quality and complexity of the instructions mean the team regularly finds itself opposite some of the leading firms in the country, ranging from top city outfits to large internationals.

The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of contentious property matters, covering commercial landlord and tenant disputes (business lease renewals, dilapidations, breaches of covenant, rent and service charge disputes, forfeiture, breaks, and rent reviews), real property disputes (restrictive covenants, adverse possession, rights of way, boundary disputes, rights to light, and telecoms), and development, overage, and insolvency-related property work.

Working closely with partners and senior associates, you will handle matters from instruction through to resolution, ensuring work is scoped and delivered on time and on budget. You will maintain accurate case management data, contribute to business development initiatives such as writing for e-newsletters or attending seminars, and consistently deliver the high standard of client care that drives repeat instructions.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified solicitor with 2+ PQE in contentious property matters, or a solid litigation background with a property bias and the willingness to learn
  • A good understanding of the key legislation governing commercial tenancies, including the Landlord and Tenant Acts and related regulations
  • Strong drafting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and accessibly
  • A collaborative and commercially minded team player, able to work effectively with colleagues and support senior lawyers as needed
  • Strong client care skills, with the ability to understand and deliver on differing client objectives
  • An interest in business development and marketing is desirable

What's on Offer

  • A seat in a Legal 500 Band 1 and Chambers-ranked specialist property litigation team
  • High-quality, complex work for a diverse and impressive client base
  • A supportive, genuinely inclusive culture with gold Investors in People accreditation
  • Structured mentoring, professional development, and a firm that actively promotes from within
  • Hybrid working and a strong commitment to work-life balance
  • Competitive salary and benefits including private healthcare, enhanced parental leave, life assurance, pension, 25 days' holiday plus birthday leave and bank holidays, and a range of other perks
