Planning - Senior Associate (4+ PQE)
Location: Edinburgh
Firm: Top-Tier Planning Team
Salary: Lucrative Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

The Role & The Work

A highly regarded Planning team, operating at the forefront of the UK's most high-profile and transformative developments and is now seeking a Senior Associate to join their team in Edinburgh.

From major infrastructure and energy projects to large-scale regeneration schemes and new settlements, this is work that is shaping the built environment and driving the future of cities, communities and net zero ambitions.

The workload will be broad and challenging, from advising on major planning applications and development strategy, to infrastructure agreements, compulsory purchase, planning litigation and judicial review. You'll also play a key role in large-scale, often first-of-their-kind projects, where your ability to think commercially and solve problems will set you apart.

The team is deeply integrated across the firms UK and international, meaning you'll collaborate on cross-border projects and multi-jurisdictional work, gaining exposure far beyond the Scottish market.

Alongside this, you will work alongside widely recognised Partners and highly regarded specialists, advising a standout client base that spans government bodies, major developers, investors and national organisations. The work is both contentious and non-contentious, giving you exposure to the full lifecycle of complex planning matters.

For Planning Lawyers, there is a clear pathway to senior leadership, within a firm that genuinely invests in progression. If you're looking for a role where your work has visible impact, technical depth and long-term career trajectory, this is it.

Your Experience

  • Scottish or Dual Qualified Planning Solicitor (4+ PQE)
  • Strong experience in planning law (contentious and/or non-contentious)
  • Experience advising on complex development or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of planning agreements, CPOs, litigation or due diligence work
  • Commercially minded with strong problem-solving ability
  • Confident communicator with client-facing experience
  • Interest in business development and building your profile

Why This Role?

  • Join a top-tier Planning team working on landmark projects
  • Exposure to major infrastructure, energy and regeneration work
  • Work alongside leading Partners in a highly respected practice
  • Be part of a future-facing team driving planning and development strategy
  • Genuine opportunity to shape your career and progress to senior levels
  • International platform with cross-office collaboration
  • Flexible, modern and supportive working culture
  • Lucrative salary, bonus and comprehensive benefits
