Corporate Regulatory Senior Associate | 6+ PQE | Manchester

A leading full-service firm with one of the largest litigation departments in the North West is looking for a 6+ PQE Senior Associate to join its Corporate Regulation team. The practice advises regulatory bodies, government departments, and high-profile clients on complex, often precedent-setting matters that regularly feature in media commentary, lobbying activity, and policy development.

You will not be a junior observer. You will be leading matters, mentoring junior lawyers, and working alongside partners to shape the direction of the practice.

The Work

• Leading on complex data protection compliance: ICO investigations, cross-border data issues, major breach responses, risk frameworks and audit programmes

• Advising on large-scale government consultations and regulatory obligations, including lobbying and policy work

• Consumer protection: product safety, recalls, advertising standards (ASA, CAP codes), often in high-profile or multi-jurisdictional contexts

• Corporate responsibility and reputation management at board level

You will also be expected to lead business development, identifying opportunities, building relationships with regulators and industry bodies, and raising the team's profile through articles, speaking engagements, and media work.

What You Bring

• 6+ PQE with deep experience across corporate regulatory issues, including data protection, consumer rights, and compliance

• A track record of managing complex regulatory matters independently, with sound judgment on risk and strategy

• Experience leading client relationships and mentoring more junior lawyers

• A genuine appetite for business development and market-facing activity: you are comfortable presenting webinars, writing thought leadership, and engaging with media

• Strong technical drafting and analytical skills, combined with commercial pragmatism

• Ambition to contribute to team growth and eventually move towards partnership
