The firms commercial practice is experiencing significant growth and therefore looking to expand further over the coming months.

They are a top-rated national firm, multiple award winners and recognised for having some of the most collaborative and cohesive working cultures in the UK. This practice powerhouse is now looking for an IP Partner with 'intimate knowledge of the region; to assist in leading their Intellectual Property team.

The Legal 500 have been particularly confident in the firm's abilities and have ranked 30 different categories across 4 of its offices.

The firm attributes a lot of their success to their exceptional knowledge and understanding of the specialist fields of law that the Lawyers practice. They don't have the intensity and stress of heavy KPI's which is an agreed feel throughout the firm, so the employees can take the time to understand the needs of their clients.

The Role

The firm are seeking to hire a commercially minded Intellectual Property Partner to join their established Birmingham office.

You will be responsible for further building or developing your own client base in the region, adopting the firm's ethos and working alongside the other Partners national to build the brand further ensuring future success for the department.

Therefore, you must be client facing, business development focused and entrepreneurial to increase their Intellectual Property presence. This opportunity will be based around your specialist areas; however, you will be expected to have a broad knowledge across all areas of Intellectual Property or specialist knowledge in specific areas such as:

  • Trademarks
  • Design and Copyright
  • IP licensing and exploitation
  • Protection and enforcement
  • IP rights
  • Commercial Contracts
  • Partnership Agreements

If you are an experienced and ambitious IP Lawyer or Partner seeking full autonomy - this firm will work with you closely to facilitate this offering full support to ensure your personal and professional growth ensuring the future success of your career.


  • You will be an Intellectual Property Lawyer with at least 7 years PQE
  • Experience of managing and mentoring more junior colleagues is advantageous
  • You should have first-class communication, outstanding business development skills and an entrepreneurial flair
  • A transferable client base or regional contacts is highly advantageous
