The role

The firm are recruiting for a Criminal Duty Solicitor to join this new firm, based close to Tyseley, Birmingham.

You will be part of this new firms Senior Management team. You will be an integral part of the Criminal Defence Law Firm, taking on a range of caseload of both private client and legal aid criminal files in a fully supportive environment. You will be handling a range of criminal defence cases, and be confident attending police station and magistrate court clients. This role requires the eligibility to join the Court and Police Station Duty Rota Scheme.

You will be tasked with handling a complex and sensitive caseload, ranging from bail applications, serious fraud and white-collar crime to Murder, Drug and theft cases.

You'll work closely with the SRA and other regulatory bodies. You'll be the custodian and lead on all aspects of the creation of frameworks and reports that will help demonstrate compliance and good practice. The successful candidate will be given the relevant support to achieve regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • You will be a Crime Solicitor with at least 6 months PQE (there is no upper limit regarding the amount of PQE, applications are invited from even the most experienced of candidates)
  • You will have the crime duty accreditation
  • You will be an ambitious candidate that wants to progress in their career
  • You will be able to manage a busy caseload
  • Higher rights of audience is desired, but not essential

Renumeration

  • You will receive a competitive basic salary dependent on your level of experience
  • There is also the opportunity to earn a bonus depending on the success of the department
