This is an exciting opportunity to join the Rural Property and Estate team of a pioneering Top 70 UK law firm. The firm is seeking an Associate Solicitor to join the City of London office.

The role

This award-winning law firm is seeking a Rural Property Solicitor 2-5 PQE to join their flourishing office based in the City of London.

You will join a close-knit team, ranked very highly for their work. The work will involve a variety of matters including the sale and purchase of farms and landed estates as well rural residential property.

Other matters covered by the team includes the sale of land for both commercial and residential development and the grant of leases for renewable energy projects.

The clients the team services include high and ultra-high net worth international and UK individuals as well as commercial and charitable organisations.

You will be working closely alongside a celebrated Partner on specialist matters such as advising on occupancy arrangements for agricultural land including the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986, the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and contract farming and share farming agreements.

There will also be the opportunity to advise on management issues including commercial leases, grant of easements, release of restrictive covenants, rural residential landlord and tenant and first registration of unregistered land.

The ideal candidate will have a background in rural practice and an interest in country life. Knowledge of environmental policy, agricultural tenancies, unregistered land and manorial rights will be hugely beneficial.

This position comes with a large amount of client contact and you will be covered to manage your own files autonomously with Partner support. You will also be encouraged to partake in the team's business development activities, such as strengthening client relationships, writing articles and attending events.

Requirements:

  • You will be an England & Wales qualified solicitor 2-5 years PQE
  • Previous experience in landed estates/agricultural law is essential
  • You will have a strong technical knowledge
  • Solid communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
