The Role: Head of Legal

This role is an exciting Head of Legal opportunity.

The company has bases in London and Oxford, and you can be largely remote in this role with attendance to an HQ where required on an ad-hoc basis.

You will find a growing company with exciting growth plans. The company now stands between 500-600 employees to double in size in the next few years.

As Head of Legal, you will lead the global offering and will need to have had exposure to various legal areas.
The work will primarily surround:

  • Privacy & Data (DPO experience would be a major plus)
  • EU experience would be ideal as the company is expanding in these markets, and as such, the role will evolve from being solely focused on UK work to being on both UK and EMEA matters.
  • Exposure to commercial work would be beneficial, as you would support another Lawyer within the team on those matters where required.
  • Regulatory products - a working knowledge in a regulated space such as insurance would be helpful.
  • Employment law - it will be essential to have a solid grounding and knowledge of UK employment law.

Responsibilities:

  • As Head of Legal, you can expect a broad array of duties, such as generally driving legal strategy development across the business.
  • You will work across Employment, Data Privacy, Regulatory and some Commercial matters.
  • Advise business and technology teams on legal or privacy issues in connection with the development of products, platforms, services and other initiatives
  • Advise internally on employment law matters
  • Take responsibility for managing Data Subject Access Requests, Requests to be Forgotten and all equivalent requests in local jurisdictions.
  • Work in close cooperation with the compliance team
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across the company
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal issues of importance
  • And more! This is a general Head of Legal role, so you can expect all of the duties that would come of that, working for a publicly listed company.

Requirements:

  • You will be a qualified Solicitor with 6 years of PQE
  • You will have strong technical knowledge in the relevant areas of law
  • You will be forward-thinking and business-minded
