The Role

3 PQE Contentious or Non-Contentious Construction Lawyer to join Bristol Top 100 in support of Local Governance

Considered as one of the leading Local Governance teams outside of London, your caseload will be high value and comprise of complicated instructions from local authorities, NHS Trusts and housing associations.

You will have ongoing exposure to the construction industry, including numerous developers, funders, and contractors, with recent projects involving a £20 million PFI Highways dispute and panel appointment for one of the largest infrastructure investors in the world.

By inheriting a busy and diverse caseload, you will expand upon your legal expertise daily, whilst working closely with colleagues at all levels as required to work collaboratively.

Your success will culminate in ongoing career progression aligned with your goals; your influence will be felt from day one in terms of input towards the strategic decisions made by the department.

Owing to the nature of the work and trusting relationships in place with clients, you will foster, nurture and manage current and future relationships whilst having a real desire to engage and network to further your own and the firm's reputation and exposure.

The opportunities to develop into leadership, or focus on more niche areas of law will be immediately apparent via dedicated ongoing mentoring from Partners.

Owing to the structure, balance and technology utilised by the team, you will have the means to work from home.

The Requirements

  • 3 PQE within Construction as an Associate, or 5 PQE to join at Senior Associate level in contentious or non-contentious matters
  • Exceptional technical experience, demonstrated by success in previous roles
  • Experience in dealing in large settlements owing to the nature of work
  • Willingness to work in collaboration with colleagues at all levels, mentoring those more junior.
  • Displaying commercial awareness, coupled with social intelligence and interest in building interpersonal relationships.
