Milestone Moments

3 Mins

Reached any personal career milestones recently?

Personal milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, graduations all help us reflect on our journey through life.

Some of us mark them in style, others let them float by unnoticed. So, does it matter if we let business milestones pass by without comment?

In business it can be a great thing to do for the company and employees. Marking a company’s milestones creates a positive story and identity that helps give employees and clients a sense of belonging.

Recognition from a company for an employee’s efforts goes a long way in creating happy, loyal staff motivated to do good work. It can also be a great way to break up a long, complex project into achievable chunks.

How to mark those milestones matters too. Getting everyone to pop 50p into an envelope to buy a card and a cake for someone’s birthday can end up feeling like a work birthday tax if your company has more than 20 people in it.

It’s better to mark out work milestones in a newsletter, on the website, or at an AGM.

Milestones help us take a step back and reflect on how far we’ve come, and what we want to do in the future. Success is worth celebrating.
