What are you going to do next?
You’ve graduated, flung your cap in the air and celebrated the end of your academic life. Now, every well-meaning friend, relative and random neighbour is asking what your plans are. Sound familiar?
For many of us, it can be a heart-sinking feeling when you have no idea what the answer is.
It’s a tough job market out there and we see a lot of highly-talented graduates starting out hoping to land their dream first job. But with so much competition, it’s tough to land or even know what your ideal job looks like. As a recruiter I’m constantly offering lots of advice! But I think if I had to choose one, it would be this:
Follow your own path.
It’s so easy to feel that everyone around you is landing dream jobs and there’s a pressure for you to do the same. But it’s much better to just focus on you and your journey - not enter a career race. ????
You might make mistakes and change your mind along the way, that’s okay. If you’re willing to learn and you’re open to new ideas you’ll find any missteps will just be a part of your career path.
