Why Work in Scotland?

Scottish legal opportunities are able to provide on every side of the equation. Due to increasing international and cross-border work, as well as home-grown development, the scale and quality of the work lawyers in Scotland can undertake continues to reach new heights.

Unlike other markets, this quality comes without undue sacrifices in other areas. Working hours/targets in Scotland tend to be notably lower than other major markets and there is a cultural focus on balance and well-being which permeates the nation as a whole.

Improved work-life balance can be put to good use, with Scotland having unrivalled access to the best natural landscapes in the UK, as well as bustling metropolitan cities filled with a plethora of activity, history, art and culture.

Furthermore, salaries in Scotland have risen substantially and are now in line with other regions in the UK. At Partner level, remuneration is often on par with London counterparts and it is entirely possible to reap the benefits of Scotland's working culture and broader lifestyle whilst having an exceptionally lucrative career.

Combining this with the comparably cheap cost of living and the well-known hospitality of the people, Scotland represents a compelling location for legal talent.
